Mary is a retired ICU nurse who has always had a deep and abiding love for all God's creatures, especially those in the animal kingdom. Having experiences in the medical field for over 25 years, she has seen the pain and anguish that loved ones go through when a family member is ill or dying.
Although involved with animals and animal advocacy most of her life, after retiring, Mary became manager of the Fairwinds Center. Fairwinds is a unique organization ~ priding itself in providing the highest, most spiritual and loving care for your beloved pets who are either ill or have passed over.
I visited Fairwinds recently, met Mary and I felt an instant bond with this beautiful woman. Upon entering Fairwinds, I was greeted by some of Mary's family ~ two of her dogs who greeted me like a great friend ~ and immediately felt at home. She then went on to show me what services she provides for those pets who have died. And, it was amazing.
Mary begins with the option to come and get your pet, bring it to Fairwinds, where she will lovingly groom it and prepare your family pet member for viewing ~ if you so desire ~ and then provide funeral and memorial services (with or without clergy) ~ all geared toward your wishes.
I was so amazed at the amount of love Mary put into decorating the viewing room, making sure the surrounding sitting areas are warm and inviting to all who may enter. I was equally impressed with her other services including making paw prints in non-toxic cement; ceramic necklaces utilizing a lock of fur; and a number of other beautiful remembrance items. All of these were presented with such care and love, I was moved to tears.
I'm sure each one of us has suffered the loss of one of our beloved pets over the years ~ I know I have ~ and for me it was devastating. More so, because there was no place like Fairwinds at the time, or that I knew of. Now, even though the pain of losing a pet would still be great ~ having a service utilizing Mary and her loving care at Fairwinds ~ I know would help ease my pain, and begin the process of grieving ~ a necessary part of losing a loved one.
Mary provides many other services which I did not list here, of course, as they are numerous, and person-specific. I invite all of you to meet Mary sometime ~ even if just through the Fairwinds website. She is a beautiful, glowing spirit. A much needed angel for our beloved pets and definitely "Someone You Should Know!"
